Samburu & Shaba

Samburu and Shaba game reserve lie in the northern frontier of Kenya. The rugged north safari destination is arid and dry most time of the year. The beautiful landscape calls for the perfect camera moments with the jagged mountains in the horizon. The Ewaso Nyiro also called the river of brown waters is the lifeline of this two reserves.
Hundreds of wildlife are attracted to this reserves by the brown waters and the shades created by the doum palms that line by the river banks. The endemic and special five in Samburu are an attraction by themselves. They include the Oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, long necked antelope and the vulturine guinea fowl.
The cultures of the Samburu, Rendille and Borana who reside here are a beautiful sight. Their cultural practices are an attraction by itself.  Further north they have the Singing wells where herdsmen sing to their livestock calling them to the watering whole.
The Reteti elephant sanctuary is also the only community owned elephant sanctuary. The facilities rescues baby elephants and a source of income for the community.
The Mathew ranges is home to wild game that is well known for its guided walking safaris. It is the only green area within the dry rugged vast plains. A samburu safari is worth your every coin.
