The Tsavo West National Park is a famous destination known for man-eaters, land of lava, and magical sunsets. It is also home to the Red Elephants. The NP stretches from the Mzima Springs that oozes with the crystal clear water lavishing from the sun-baked lava rock up to the Shetani lava flow. Tsavo West region is a charming wilderness. The savannah habitat comprises scrublands, open grassland, acacia woodlands, rocky ridges, and riverine vegetation.

Above the land, you will have a delightful view as the teeming herds graze on the plains. Tsavo West is one of the largest NPs in Kenya. Due to this factor and thick vegetation in the destination spotting the wildlife can be challenging. Hence, the park is unsung compared to its counterpart, Amboseli and Masai Mara.

Nonetheless, Tsavo West National Park boasts an awe-inspiring game viewing on the planet. Some of the diverse animals you can spot include; rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, lions, hippos, buffalos, and leopards. Common shrubs, Acacia, and baobab trees are the dominant vegetation. Notable birds in the park include; the Golden palm weaver, the endangered corncrake, Eastern black-headed oriole, Verreaux’s eagle owl and Pied Kingfisher.
The shetani lave flow and the shetani cave are a work of volcanic activity that add to the beauty of this park. The Mzima fresh spring is the source of fresh chilled water that is used in the coastal city. The underground water chambers is home to hippos and a variety of fish.
The park is historically famous for the mane eater’s lions of Tsavo that caused havoc during the construction of the railway. On a clear enjoy, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Kilimanjaro.
