Aberdare National Park is characterized by wild moorlands, stunning waterfalls, thick verdant rainforest, and cool mountain breezes. The park is fairly small compared to other wildlife reserves in the country. Nonetheless, it offers special activities and wildlife species that can be rare to spot in other parks.
The pervading mist, cool climate, streams, and cold lakes welcome you to paradise. Aberdare safari is unique from the savannahs and sunbaked hills. Aberdare paradise is reputable for its breathtaking mountainous terrains, 300m-high waterfalls, misty tropical forests, abundant wildlife, and rich trekking terrains. The landscape ranges from; the rainforest, alpine vegetation, and bamboo groves.
Aberdare National Park is home to elephants, buffalo, monkeys, baboons, and antelope. You can easily spot the bush pugs, hyenas, elands, waterbucks, jackals, colobus monkey, golden cat, giant forest hog, and the mysterious black leopard. Lions, rhinos are rare to find, although they are present.
The wildife are attracted by the numerous water holes and salt lick areas.  It is also an acclimatization base for the hikers seeking to conquer the snow peaked Mt Kenya.
This is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second in Africa. Helicopter trips on to Mt Kenya are a sight to behold.
Other activities in the aberdares include fishsing, hiking, bird watching, camping, landscape photography and enjoying some spectacular water falls.
Aberdares is famous for the brown and rainbow trout fish. The mountain lakes on Mt Kenya are a good spot for experiencing fly fishing.
The unique wildlife in aberdares include the giant forest hogs, the melanistic leopard and the endangered Bongo species
